Everything that comes to your mind, heart, or atmosphere should not be tolerated. In other words, you do not have to accept everything presented to you. Some thoughts must be rejected. Some patterns must be broken. Every lie must be confronted. The enemy thrives where truth is ignored, but strongholds lose power and are cast down when Truth is proclaimed.
What You Don't Have to Accept
You do not have to tolerate fear, condemnation, deception, insecurity, or every voice that opposes what God has said. Instead, confront the lie with Truth:
- Answer anxiety with God's promises
- Answer shame with grace
- Answer fear with faith
- Answer confusion with the Word of God
Your Weapons Are Mighty
2 Corinthians 10:4 tells us that the weapons of the believer are mighty in God for pulling down strongholds. One of our greatest weapons is the two-edged sword of the Spirit—the Word of God. The Word of God is like a fire and a hammer that breaks the rock (stronghold and resistance) into pieces.
Reflection Questions
- What lie have I been tolerating in my mind or emotions?
- What does God's Word say that directly confronts that lie?
- Where have I given space to fear, shame, or insecurity?
- How can I respond with Truth the next time the lie appears?
- What truth do I need to declare over myself today?
